Moxii Round Up - December 13, 2023
Good morning! Amazon is debuting some new grocery features to its already powerful Prime subscription. Adidas goes to a video game and Mastercard has its own shopping AI.
Amazon tests grocery for Prime
đź›’ Fresh and Prime - Amazon is testing unlimited grocery delivery for its Prime members. For $10 a month, Prime members can get free Amazon Fresh and Whole food deliveries. These also includes 30 minute pick ups for orders above $35.
💵 Too much value - Currently being trialed in Denver, Sacramento, California and Columbus, the move amplifies Prime’s membership benefits. Prime members have enjoyed unlimited free shipping on select items and 2 day delivery for years, and the $10 addition for groceries is well worth it.
🔓️ Still pivoting - Amazon has been wanting to tweak its grocery business for some time now. In October 2023, their threshold for free Fresh grocery delivery went from $150 to $100. In 2021, a $10 service fee was introduced for Prime members for Wholefoods which actually led to a lawsuit.
Adidas goes to Roblox
❓️ What’s Roblox - Roblox is a popular platform where players can make their own games within the game itself. The game has lots of avatars/characters, making it a new place where advertisers go to place ads.
đź‘• Inside the Adidas Collab - Adidas is the newest collab that are making waves in the gaming space. Adidas popup stores with digital clothing have now popped up on Roblox. Roblox players can buy in the shop and dress up their avatars in select fits. They also collaborated with Roblox creator Rush Bogin for a limited edition collection called adidas Rush X, free for the first 10,000 units.
🎮️ Ads in a game - Roblox continues to gain traction in advertising after brands like Puma and the NFL started getting in game billboards and brand experiences.
Its new advertising features are also continuously updated:
🔎 Has immersive ads with video and age based targeting
đź‘– Includes virtual rooms and interactive games
🛹 Ads are only shown to users 13 years and older which is 57% of its audience
Mastercard’s AI helps you shop
❓️ Meet Shopping Muse - Mastercard’s Shopping Muse gives you personalized online shopping experiences based on product recommendations and past purchases . This is meant to change how searching and discovering products is done. It’s powered by AffinityML to understand and converse better.
Here’s how it works:
🛠️ Retailers use the tool on their website
đź’¬ Looks at chatbot prompts from products, prices, questions and starts recommending based on your personality
📆 It can also look at your past history with the seller if you log in
💸 It can even create bundles if you’re on a budget
💡 It’s too useful - An example is typing out “Give me a 90s outfit for my next party” “What should I wear to the beach”, The AI is powerful enough to recommend accordingly. Generative AI is going to be the biggest trend in the industry, with 1 in 4 retailers already using generative AI.
