Every TikTok could be an ad

Millions of ads for billions of users

TikTok is testing a feature where “find similar items on TikTok Shop” could appear on every object in a TikTok according to Bloomberg.

This feature was only previously available for approved influencers or brands, but the new version could bring it to all of its 1 billion monthly users. Techjury also reports that 34 million TikToks are posted everyday.

To make things even easier, its TikTok themselves that auto tags the products, so users don’t need to do it manually.

Seamless shopping the new thing

Shopping and social media (known as social commerce) is making waves as the new way to advertise.

In November 2023, Amazon debuted the option to buy straight from Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. TikTok Shop itself was banned in Indonesia for a while before the company invested in Tokopedia, which revived the shop. It was originally banned because it was so popular and could have destroyed Indonesia’s MSMEs.

According to Tidio, Chinese brands have a 30% conversion rate on social media which consists of livestream shopping, influencer marketing, and social media product auctions.
