Shopee, the biggest ecommerce platform in the Philippines with almost 80M monthly users has partnered with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to bring in Halal food sellers into the platform. The move was aimed to encourage diversity and to boost MSME involvement in the platform.

Halal food products follow Islamic dietary laws that have a particular way of being made. Islam is practiced by 5% of Filipinos and having their food products be available on the country’s biggest platform drives more sales and brand reputation to Shopee.

Sellers are also given a crash course on topics such as

  1. Product listing guidelines

Vincent Lee, head of Shopee Philippines says that its dedicated for support and inclusivity in MSMEs.
