Lazmall’s next phase

🌸 Southeast Asia blooms - At the Brands Future Forum (BFF) 2023, James Dong, Lazada’s CEO stated that Southeast Asia’s commerce industry is expected to grow to $330B by 2025 and has one of the fastest growing digital populations

💡 Lazada’s initiative follows on these areas:

  • Innovation in engagement, products, marketing and customer experience (i.e. AI or LazzieChat, augmented reality, Joint Business Partnerships programme)

Lazada’s new tech also includes:

  • 📸 Skin test technology - Their new AR experience runs a skin diagnosis and recommends products based on a 1 minute analysis!

  • 🤖 AI Generated Content - Helps brands with their design elements and branding with the help of AI

TikTok shop’s strategy

⏩️ Tiktok fast facts:

  • It’s ad business will grow faster than Amazon, Google and Meta (its at 22%!)

  • TikTok shop features live videos and checkouts, ads, fulfilment and marketplace within the app

🗺️ The strategy:

  • 📱 Creators help bridge the gap between commerce and entertainment through original content

  • 💸 Its affiliate program allows commissions on sales, with 100k creators already signing up

  • 📈 Its driven by trends and FOMO, compared to Amazon’s convenience and trust

Shein’s possible shipping strategy against Prime

⌛️ The problem:

  • Shipping time for shoppers are too slow for the ecommerce giant (~2 weeks or longer)

  • US competition have an edge over its own region (especially with Prime’s 1-2 day delivery)

  • Long waits equal less frequent purchases

  • 📦️ Analysts say that Shein would likely expand on bulk shipments on its high demand products.

  • 🚢 Ocean shipping could be the route, as shipping costs less than through air
