Amazon helps out small businesses in Singapore

🌍️ 800 Singaporean business owners and businesses could benefit from Amazon’s move to help them globalize.

💸 How does it work? Amazon will implement a fee waiver for new sellers from Southeast Asian countries (excusing them from paying a fee). The Singapore Institute of Retail Studies will be helping Amazon do this.

📈 There’s huge rewards up for grabs. In 2022, Singapore’s B2C exports where $1.24 billion last year, and could double to $2.85 billion by 2027 if cross border ecommerce is improved.

Dark patterns in ecommerce

🛒 Dark patterns are tactics that push customers into buying. The problem is that these are seen as manipulative and unethical, and some governments are cracking down on them.

📝 New Delhi wanted to set guidelines to control dark patterns, releasing the 10 patterns that it wants to control.

🛑 There was a pushback from the Asia Internet Coalition, consisting of Apple, Google, Meta, Amazon and X stating that such a ban would harm growth and make business harder for entrepreneurs.

What’s going on with Amazon’s drone delivery?

🚦 Amazon mastering its drone delivery would change the game for local delivery, trimming down shipping times even further. Currently, it’s experimenting on delivering prescriptions in Texas and has its own tech to check if the ground is clear before dropping.

✈️ In the UK, Amazon is working with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for regulations to improve safety.

📦️ Amazon Britain, Italy and US could also have the option to have drone deliveries in 2024 and will be launched from same day delivery sites.
