Moxii Round Up - November 10, 2023

Good morning! Before the week ends, we got some big news in India thanks to Amazon’s new fleet. Learn more about Fakespot’s anti fake review technology and see the biggest management change in Alibaba since its creation.

India gets e-vehicles with Amazon

🚚 Green delivery: Amazon now lets delivery service partners lease electric vehicles for last mile deliveries in India. EVs are cheaper for last mile costs because of their lower fuel and maintenance costs.

⛽️ Good guy Amazon: Amazon will also help delivery partners in maintenance, charging and parking. They deliver to 400 cities and even set a goal to have 10,000 electric vehicles in the India delivery fleet by 2025.

🚢 More to come: Amazon and Global Optimism also plan to launch Laneshift for zero emission freight shipping in Latin America and India.

Fakespot’s AI identifies fake reviews

🔎 Meet Fakespot: Fakespot is a startup acquired by Mozilla that grades if reviews are fake and lets you chat about the product.

☣️ Fake review plague: A lot of fake reviews are actually written by AI themselves. Tripadvisor removed 20,000 fake reviews and the UK estimates that 11-15% of all reviews are fake.

❓️ How it works: Here’s how Fakespot changes the game

  1. Either paste the product url to Fakespot Analyzer or download the extension

  2. The results appear on the right (it will show review grades, pros, cons and highlights)

  3. You can chat with Fakespot and ask questions about the product

👔 Moves at the top: Alibaba recently split into 6 divisions, with each one having their own CEO and board of directors. Its new CEO, Eddie Wu, wants Alibaba to become an open tech platform that serves the AI rush

🖥️ Open tech platforms: It’s a software system that allows third-party developers and partners to build new applications and services to the existing system.

📈 The Alibaba way: Wu wants to have SMEs use AI as a tool through Alibaba’s capabilities in computing power, networks, storage, data and large language models.
