🏏 Swing big, miss big - Indonesia recently moved to ban social media commerce, a trend taking the industry by storm. TikTok will end up missing out bringing its app to its 113 million person user base.

Lazada was quick to move in, trying to woo Indonesian sellers to come to the app. According to CNBC, Lazada is offering:

  • 🤝 0 seller commission

  • 📦️ 0 shipping fee for 2 months

  • 💵 $19.19 (300,000 Indonesian rupiah) in seller solution credit

Jianggan Li, CEO of Momentum Works is also optimistic on TikTok’s ban. Prior to the ban, the TikTok became the 3rd largest ecommerce platform in the country

"The potential ban will definitely benefit Shopee and Tokopedia, which had found it operationally difficult to defend against TikTok Shop,"
