Grab Singapore gets crypto payments

Crypto enthusiasts in Singapore are having the last laugh: Grab is now offering crypto payments.

The new feature launched in partnership with licensed payments provider Triple-A, it lets you top up your GrabPay wallet with a different of cryptocurrencies:

• You can now use Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Singapore dollar-backed stablecoin XSGD, US dollar-backed stablecoin USDC (managed by Circle), and Tether USDT to fund your GrabPay wallet.

• This means your everyday transactions, from booking a ride to picking up groceries, can now be paid by these crypto.

This isn't just convenient for crypto users, it's a big leap forward for the digital asset landscape in Singapore.

Embracing crypto payments could mean Grab is getting ahead for wider adoption of digital currencies within the city’s financial system.

For Grab, this partnership is part of a larger vision for the future. They've started to be involved in the Web3 space for some time now

• They announced plans for a pilot Web3 wallet within the Grab app back in September 2023, which lets it access a Web3 Wallet within the app.
