Ecommerce’s latest numbers

Ecommerce has exploded in popularity after the pandemic as there were no alternatives for Filipinos at the time. Despite slowly reverting back to life outside, ecommerce continues to stand with signs of growing even further in the future. Here are some quick numbers on the ecommerce industry in the Philippines:
Online sales are expected to reach $24 billion by 2025 with a 9% 9% CAGR
Food and Beverage accounts for 1/5 of online purchases, with a chance of quadrupling in 2025
The most popular food purchases are: food supplements, baked goods, chocolates, confectionery, whey protein powder, pet food, coffee and tea, flavored energy drink, wine, beer, and spirits, prepared vegetables, fruits, nuts, dairy products (infant milk, flavored milk and cheeses), honey and olive oil.
Half of the more than 70 million online users participate in cross border ecommerce (buying and selling across international borders)
There is a strong preference for US products, an opportunity that could be capitalized in the future.
