The hidden casualties of TikTok's ban: Businesses and Shoppers
💵 Millions lost
The U.S have been considering banning TikTok for a few days now.
Since TikTok’s ecommerce feature, TikTok Shop, has almost single handedly shaped social commerce, here’s what a ban could mean for US shoppers:
55 million users have shopped on TikTok Shop
Almost 5 million businesses (big and small) could hurt from the ban. It's become the standard for social commerce even at release.
A ban would mean losing access to this massive audience, forcing businesses to downsize or revamp their entire TikTok strategy.
👋 Bye bye social commerce?
The ban could also disrupt influencer marketing, where US influencers have an 18% engagement rate, hurting both businesses and the influencers themselves
1 in 4 of small businesses use TikTok influencers to sell their products.
🎯 Is TikTok the wrong target?
Some privacy experts are saying that pointing fingers at TikTok is the wrong approach, since many foreign nations are also doing the same
While a ban might seem like a way to protect privacy, data collection in general is a wider issue. Banning one app won't solve the problem entirely.

Meet the Reddit of shopping
🛍️ Reddit for shopping
AddGlow is like a online community (like Reddit and Facebook), where brand lovers exchange ideas, share experiences, and feel like members of a club.
That's the promise of AddGlow, a software tool designed to help brands ditch rented social media space and create a community directly on their own domain.
❓️ How it works
Imagine you run a sporting goods store.
Community members can share their experiences with different hiking trails, their favorite running shoes, or their tips for acing a new fitness routine.
They can tag specific products they recommend, like a comfortable backpack or a pair of sneakers.
Their homepage then reflects the brands, interests and personalities they have.
You can also see member profiles so you know more about your customer
💻️ Where does the data go
This data is then used to personalize the entire shopping experience, from product recommendations to targeted email campaigns.
This lets other customers discover products organically, all within your website.
They also offer a "Challenge Builder" feature that lets you create fun contests and reward programs to incentivize member participation.
This keeps people engaged and encourages them to interact with each other.
MrBeast brings his biggest prize to Prime Video
MrBeast, who has over 245 million subscribers, is taking his fame to new heights with his upcoming reality show "Beast Games."
"Beast Games" is said to have a $5 million prize for the winner, the biggest single prize ever offered in television history.
This epic competition will see 1,000 contestants battle it out in a fast-paced, high-production format.
The show will be available exclusively on Prime Video worldwide, reaching an audience across 240 countries and territories.
💡 Fun Fact:
MrBeast’s video “Squid Game", which had a prize of only $456k, racked up 588 million views in only 2 years.
MrBeast says that Amazon Prime gave him the most control over the show.
While an official release date hasn't been announced yet, "Beast Games" is sure to be a must-watch for fans of competition shows and MrBeast's overall brand.
