Delivery drivers in Southeast Asia are racing to the bottom
One of South East Asia’s most popular trends is having major problems:
🛵 Harder working conditions: Driving and deliveries are a dangerous job. Traffic deaths in general in Southeast Asia are about 21 per 100,000 according to the World Health Organization.
📦️ Too many delivery apps: The opportunity in Southeast Asia is too good to pass on for some companies, and they’re jumping in on the bandwagon. These new companies try to set themselves apart with lower prices and even faster delivery times, which pinch more from existing drivers.
🔻 Horrible earnings: Despite Southeast Asia being the best market for delivery apps, companies like Grab haven’t made a profit. Delivery drivers are also experiencing less and less earnings on their own time.
