Chase Bank can make ads based on your spending history

Chase Bank recently launched Chase Media Solutions, a program that lets businesses advertise directly to Chase's 80 million customers.

💡 Here’s an example:

You're into fitness and regularly buy athletic wear from Chase-affiliated stores.

Based on this transaction history, Chase might show you special deals on new running shoes or discounts on gym memberships.

Businesses are eager to reach the right customers, and Chase has large amounts of this data on what their customers buy. Chase will earn revenue by letting businesses advertise directly through the Chase app. Businesses only pay when a customer makes a purchase using a deal.

According to Companies Market Cap, they earned $155.3 billion (TTM) in revenue in 2023.

Many stores, like Best Buy, Marriott and Uber, have been doing this for a while. They use customer data to target ads on their apps and websites.

Chase Bank is the first major bank to jump on this trend. They have a unique advantage: spending data or transaction history which gives advertisers a clearer picture of shopping habits compared to other sources.
